"Get in the robot, Archie."

Manifesting the Archie Mecha Comic of my dreams.

Hi, all. How it started:

How it’s going:

ARCHIE & FRIENDS ALL ACTION ONESHOT

ARCHIE COMIC PUBLICATIONS

A BRAND-NEW STORY kicks off this collection of tales mecha monsters- heroic hijinks- and action-packed adventure! In 'Super Mecha Teens-' a giant monster threatens to attack Riverdale- and only one teen (with some robot help) can save the day. Unfortunately- that teen is Archie Andrews. But he doesn't have to do it alone! But who does he choose? Betty with her rugged- self-built mech- or Veronica with her hi-tech- hi-end robotics? As all the mechs are being mauled by the monster- Archie must decide in this story that's equal parts TRANSFORMERS and PACIFIC RIM.

Emphasis mine. Never give up on your dreams, kids. For a five-page story, I put a ridiculous amount of work and research into this — as recounted on the recent episode of War Rocket Ajax I was graciously asked to co-host. Always an honor to be on my favorite podcast and you can take a listen here.

Even if you despise everything I write (why are you reading this now), this Archie story is worth picking up just for the art by the incredible Ryan Jampole who PACKED every panel with old school manga-inspired personality and deep cut anime mecha references. I researched for months, he researched for a LIFETIME.

Thanks again to EIC Mike Pellerito and everyone at Archie for making this lifelong dream happen.

Pre-order ARCHIE & FRIENDS ALL ACTION ONE-SHOT from a local comic shop near you, or one of MY local comic shops like Golden Apple.

Support it now so we can convince them to let us do a six-part miniseries next!

Okay, I think that’s everything for now. Talk soon.

New Comic: 'Archie Meets Riverdale' + Other News

Hi all,

Just announced — I am the writer of the upcoming Archie Meets Riverdale One-Shot for Archie Comics (Maybe you’ve heard of them from being good at the grocery store??!!).

Amazing cover by one of my favorite collaborators, Derek Charm (of Valiant High) and equally amazing variant cover by the extraordinary Ben Caldwell.

Since it’s not quite as easy to find comics next to the bananas these days, you can pre-order a physical copy from directly from ArchieComics.com to be sent to your home mailbox.

It’s only $3.99 for 20+ pages of Classic Archie jokes and romance meets Bonkers Riverdale CW-style drama.

My hope is that — no offense to Marvel and D.C. — this is a comic book that literally everyone who knows me could enjoy on some level, without needing to know what Thanos had for breakfast in 1973. All of those $3.99’s add up and we would love your support.

So would your favorite local comic shop if you prefer to give them a call and pre-order it there.

Anything can happen … and usually does!

“How is the baby, all we care about is the baby.”

Baby’s good, baby crawls now. Baby rides in a car in a puffy bear suit, baby eats little morsels. She’s good.

Currently Reading/Watching:

The aforementioned Good Baby™ does have her own, very unique schedule though which means a lot of reading Kindle in dark rooms in the middle of the night and/or watching movies before dawn during a bottle feeding, so I invite you to—

🎥 Follow Me on Letterboxd where I’m trying to break 100 movies this year (which I usually don’t) and review each one (albeit briefly and usually cryptically).

📖 Follow Me on Goodreads where you can see what I’m reading and writing, but I don’t review anything (unless Jen wrote it, and then it gets an unbiased five stars).

Old News:

Watch Inside Job on Netflix, purchase Princess Dinosaur here or from your favorite children’s bookstore near you, and as Charlie Brown says, “Keep the ball low, don’t leave your crayons in the sun [and] never volunteer to be a program chair.”

Okay, I think that’s everything.
